Literature Text

I lept nimbly from rock to rock. Edward raced around me in circles. I was running slowly for me. If I had been going full speed I would’ve been faster than him – just slightly, but still faster. I was letting him run circles in front of me.

I jumped onto the ground in front of him, taking off at full speed towards the deer he was after. I jumped on it swiftly and took it out, trying to cause it as little pain as possible. Edward ran up beside, laughing.

“Hey, that was mine,” he shouted.

“You snooze, you lose,” I sang, digging my razor sharp teeth into the poor animal’s neck. I felt bad for the creature, I really did, but this was so much better than taking the life of a human. Its hot blood felt so good coursing down my dry throat.

Edward ran off and was back half a minute later, looking full and replenished.

“You catch something finally?” I teased.

“Of course,” Edward said, wrapping his arms around my waist from behind me. “You full?”

“Stuffed,” I laughed. “Race you to the car!” Then, I screamed as I unwrapped myself from his arms, “Loser has to give winner a kiss!”

I giggled and raced towards the car. I think vampires have some kind of natural compass installed into their brains because I knew I was going north. I also believe that we have a speedometer. I knew exactly how fast I was going and knew when I had run four miles. I came to an abrupt stop. I skidded against the gravel and came to a complete stop an inch away from the car.

“Don’t scratch the paint job,” Edward scolded, coming out of the trees just seconds after me.

“You owe me,” I taunted him jokingly.

“Oh, what a horror.” He cringed coming towards me and wrapping his arms around me, kissing me hard. I felt his tongue licking the access blood off my lips and I did the same to his. Whatever caught had tasted a lot better than my deer.

“You know what I want to do now?” I asked.

“Bella, love, I might be able to read minds but yours is like a blank page to me,” Edward said. “I do not think I’ll ever be able to guess.”

I looked down and pouted, making sure he knew it hurt my feelings when he called me a blank page. That wasn’t exactly up there on my list of compliments. Calling someone a blank page could mean they were stupid. I knew that wasn’t so in this case, but I was trying to make him feel bad.

“Oh, Bella, I didn’t mean it,” Edward said, putting a hand under my chin and lifting my face up so that I was staring into his topaz eyes. “I simply meant you are so amazing that I can simply not begin to fathom being able to read your mind. It is too amazing a thought. Now, come on, tell me where you want to go.”

“That makes me feel better but I’m not telling you now,” I said, continuing to pout.

“Come on, I really want to know,” Edward begged.

“No, it’s ruined,” I fake-sobbed.

“Tell me, Bella,” Edward said, starting to sound annoyed.

“Fine,” I grumbled. “I want to go to our meadow.”

“That’s perfect!” Edward exclaimed, opening the passenger door of his Volvo. I got in and adjusted the rearview mirror slightly so that I could look into it. I checked my lips for any blood that Edward had not gotten. Of course, there was none, but it would’ve been hard to tell if there had been because my lips were their usual bright, blood red color.

“You want to know something?” Edward asked as he got into the driver’s seat. “When you were human, I thought it was impossible for there to be anyone more beautiful than you. I was wrong. Vampire you is so much prettier.”

“I thought you didn’t like blonds,” I teased.

“That was until I saw a blond Bella,” he said.

We drove in silence, but we were both thinking of each other. Trust me. I know those kinds of things. I still wasn’t quite so sure that this was real, but if it was a dream, I never wanted to wake up.

The road ended and we got out of the car. I was having flashbacks to the first time we were here. We hiked to our beautiful meadow. It had taken us hours because I was such a klutz as human. Edward always acted startled that I had lived to be ten, let alone seventeen.

“Let’s hike,” I said. “Human speed.”

“Okay,” he agreed, grabbing my hand eagerly and we walked into the trees.

After about five minutes of lightly scrambling over rocks, Edward spoke up. “I miss having to help you. I keep on wanting to reach out to make sure you won’t trip but you’re fine. It’s…unusual.”

“As though being a vampire is usual,” I said.

“Good point,” Edward said. “I kind of miss my clumsy human.”

“I’ll trip once so that you can save me,” I said to cheer him up.

“Okay,” he said.

I laughed. Taking a step onward, I made myself trip over my own feet. Even though I was totally in control, I allowed myself to fall forwards towards the ground. My face was an inch from the ground when gentle hands grabbed my waist and pulled me back up. Edward was laughing hysterically.

“That’s not funny,” I said, smacking Edwards arm.

“I thought it was pretty hilarious,” he laughed, pretending to clutch his sides from his laughing.

“Yeah, ha ha, so funny,” I griped.

“I didn’t think you’d actually go through with it,” he said, still laughing.

“Yeah, and I was pretty sure you were going to catch me before I landed on my head and ended up with a big bruise.”

“Vampires don’t bruise, love,” he chuckled.

“Says you,” I said, wrinkling my petite noise.

This sent him into hysterias again.
Chapter 13. Whoppee! I was going to start it from when they were getting into the car after she said she wanted to go to the meadow but then i got a bunch of messages saying they couldn't wait to read about Edward and Bella hunting together so i added that.

Bella trusts Edward way too much. She has good reasons too, but i'm just saying. I'd never risk falling on my face no matter how much i luved the guy.

Stephanie Meyer owns these characters.

Awwww! SO loving! I am SO happy Edward decided that he would stay, I was worried he'd leave Bella when he found out she lied and never returned for 100 years!
